Academic Biography: Dean Faisal Abdulrahman Daham

 

Personal Information: Dean Faisal Abdulrahman Daham is a distinguished academician and administrator with a wealth of experience in the field of engineering. He was born in 1957 in the Kurdistan Region of Iraq and currently resides in Mamostayan Q. Erbil. As an Assistant Professor specializing in Hydraulics, Fluid Mechanics, Dams & Water Resources Engineering, he has made significant contributions to academia and research. Fluent in Kurdish, Arabic, and English, Dean Daham embodies a commitment to excellence in education and scholarship.

 

Education: Dean Daham embarked on his academic journey in engineering at Mosul-Iraq, where he pursued both his Bachelor of Science (B.Sc.) and Master of Science (M.Sc.) degrees. During his undergraduate studies from 1974 to 1978, he focused on general engineering principles. In his Master's program from 1983 to 1985, he specialized in Hydraulics, Fluid Mechanics, and Water Resources Engineering, laying the groundwork for his expertise in these areas.

 

Scientific Titles: Dean Daham's academic career progressed steadily, starting as an Assistant Lecturer in 1986. As an Assistant Lecturer, he began his career in academia, gaining valuable experience in teaching and research. He then advanced to the position of Lecturer in 1989, where he continued to excel in his academic pursuits, further honing his teaching and research skills. In 1995, he achieved the title of Assistant Professor, a testament to his dedication and contributions to the field of engineering education and scholarship.

 

Researches & Published Papers: Assistant Professor Faisal, a distinguished academic and researcher, has made significant contributions to hydrology and water resource management. His research spans various crucial topics, including soil infiltration dynamics, groundwater evaluation, and drought characteristics. Assistant Professor Faisal has developed innovative methodologies for predicting infiltration rates and practical models for flow generation in Northern Iraq's rivers. Additionally, his work on watershed management and erosion dynamics of hydraulic structures offers valuable insights for sustainable water resource governance. Notably, his exploration of hill lakes as a water harvesting technique provides innovative solutions for addressing water scarcity challenges in semi-arid regions like Kurdistan. He served as the Dean of the Technical Institute of Nemrud from 1980 to 1984 and later as the Dean Assistant of the College of Engineering at Salahaddin University from 1986 to 1995. He also held the position of President of the Foundation of Technical Institutes in the Kurdistan Region from 1995 to 1996. Additionally, he served as the Head of the Civil Engineering Department at the College of Engineering, Salahaddin University, from 1997 to 2002. From 2004 to 2006, he was the Director of the Engineering Consulting Bureau at the College of Engineering, Salahaddin University. Subsequently, he served as the Head of the Dams and Water Resources Engineering Department at the same institution from 2006 to 2017. Currently, he holds the esteemed position of Dean at Noble Private Institute of Technology, where he provides visionary leadership and fosters academic excellence.

 

Experiences: Dean Daham's professional experiences extend beyond academia, encompassing consultancy projects and contributions to infrastructure development initiatives. His involvement in flood protection projects and dam design showcases his commitment to practical engineering solutions.
